Pastor passed out a recap of the time and talent sheets recently turned in, copy attached.
Pastor will take a vacation day on December 27, (this day is make up for a vacation day not taken earlier this year). David Swygert will supply that Sunday.
Old Business:
Church Assistant yearly Holiday Schedule: Bob Schilke made a motion to give our office assistant nine holiday days per year plus one floater. The 9 scheduled holidays would include: New Years Day; Easter Monday; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; 2 Days at Thanksgiving; 2 Days at Christmas. Motion was seconded by Diane Schilke and motion carried.
New Business:
Columbarium: A decision was made to return regulations to the Columbarium Committee. The committee needs to address and clarify the moving of the Columbarium and return of niches.
Properties:
Properties chairperson, Diane Schilke offered a report describing many items that needed to be addressed.
1. Holes in parking lot - There are several holes in the asphalt and roots are growing through. Bob Schilke said he would repair.
2. Lawn Mowers - Both lawn mowers are broken and need to be replaced.
3. Roof Leak There is a leak in the roof.
4. Air Conditioner We received a bill for $465 after a routine maintenance check. Most of the charges seem to be unauthorized and will be questioned. None of the work being claimed on bill had approval to be done.
5. One air conditioning unit is 23 years old and needs to be replaced.
6. The wood siding on the outside of the building is rooting and needs to be replaced.
7. We are holding a bill for $590.14 for plumbing repairs. Repairs had to be done because the outside water meter is not producing enough PSI. We have already paid $290 for other repairs to the plumbing because of the meter issue.
Diane would like direction on how to proceed with all the repairs. Our constitution authorizes the council to keep the building in good operational condition but during our congregational meeting it was suggested council needed approval from the congregation to move forward. It was recommended we compile a letter to inform the congregation of everything that has been repaired during 2009 and what is in need of current repair. This information will be mailed along with the letter to the congregation informing them of the January 10 Special Congregational Meeting to discuss National ELCA vote on Human Sexuality. Diane Schilke, Rick Pueschel and Sharon Crout will put together the information on repairs and include a request for support of funding for repairs needed.
Diane will be on vacation the last week in December. Bob Collins and Max Sigmon will be on call for properties.
Task Force Jill Bossi presented 3 documents the task force would like to present to the congregation at the January 10 Special Congregational Meeting. Page one is the Resolution page listing the resolutions from the Churchwide Assembly. Page two is the Whereas page which requests more time be given. Page three is a Choice Document offering three choices dealing with the issue.
Benevolence was discussed. A suggestion was made to include a separate line choice on our monthly giving statements which would allow each family to pay the benevolence or not pay the benevolence. Since our Budget was approved at the November 22 Congregational meeting to pay the entire amount to SC Synod Benevolence we will need a resolution from the congregation to alter the method of giving. This will be addressed at the Jan 10th meeting. Debbie Hyman Stephens made a motion to approve the human sexuality task force presentation and subjects for discussion for the Jan 10th meeting. Rick Pueshel seconded the motion and motion carried.
Treasurer Report:
Current checking account balance is $2,644.48. God is Good!
Open Discussion:
It was shared that 26 people have signed up for the Happy Birthday Jesus party.
Jill Bossi made a motion to adjourn. Motion was seconded by Sue Lydon. Motion carried.
Closed with Lords Prayer at 8:55
Respectfully submitted:
Sharon Crout
