Pastor Swicegood grew up in Kannapolis, NC, and graduated from High School in West Columbia, South Carolina. He attended Newberry College and the Church's seminary in Columbia.

He has served the Lutheran Church in congregations in Columbia, as an organizing Pastor, in Greenville and North Myrtle Beach, SC.  Luther has served as an interim pastor in six congregations.  

Pastor Swicegood has served on various boards and commissions of the South Carolina synod, most recently as Chairman of the synods Disaster Response Team.  

Luther is married to Caroline Derrenbacher Swicegood.   He and Caroline
reside in West Columbia, South Carolina.  They have
two sons, Monty and Mark, and two grandsons, Zachary and Trez. His family enjoys anything outdoors, particularly golfing and sailing, but mostly GOLF!
